A Day in Bariga: 1,500 Families, One Mission of Care

On March 22, 2025, Glo Foundation, in partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, carried out a large-scale food and clothing distribution in Bariga, Lagos — reaching over 1,500 families with essential supplies. More than an act of giving, it was a reminder of what it means to show up for communities with empathy.

With food insecurity growing, many families in Bariga struggle to meet daily needs. To help ease this burden, we distributed 19,305 kilograms of food and over 107 kilograms of clothing and books, enough to sustain households for up to two weeks.

Adding to the impact was the presence of Glo Foundation volunteers — staff members stepping into outreach roles for the first time. Their energy and commitment shaped the day. From registering beneficiaries and handing out supplies to helping families carry boxes, they served with intention and heart.

Throughout the day, we saw gratitude in every corner — elderly women smiling with relief, mothers thankful not just for the items, but for being remembered.

One woman said it best: “There’s no one that will receive this and not thank God. We’ll eat this for more than a week.

By the end of the outreach, over 7,500 indirect beneficiaries — neighbors, children, extended families — had also been reached through shared support. But the real impact went beyond numbers. The atmosphere was filled with respect and connection. We didn’t just distribute food — we reminded people they were seen. Bariga reinforced what we believe: true service is about how we give — with care, presence, and purpose. And through our partnership with Lagos Food Bank Initiative, we were able to deliver all three.

At Glo Foundation, we’re committed to this kind of giving — thoughtful, human, and lasting.
