Ajah Opens Its Doors, and We Showed Up: Feeding 1,000 Families with purpose.

A week after our outreach in Bariga, the Glo Foundation in partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, extended its mission of care to Ajah, Lagos. On March 29, 2025, we arrived not just with food and clothing, but with intention. Our goal was to provide immediate relief to 1,000 households while reinforcing our long-term commitment to community resilience. Ajah’s coastal communities face unique challenges — often caught between rapid development and displacement. Many residents live hand to mouth, navigating daily uncertainty. In response, our joint intervention with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative delivered 12,870 kilograms of food and 82 kilograms of clothing and sundry items, all carefully packed to support families for up to two weeks.

But the event was more than a distribution. It was deeply human. As families arrived and were registered, we offered more than just supplies — we listened, we laughed, and we connected. One woman, balancing a food box nearly half her size, looked up with tears in her eyes and said,

You remembered us. You fed us. We will not forget this day..

Through this initiative, over 5,000 indirect beneficiaries were reached — from extended family members to neighbors who shared in the support. Yet, what lingered with us most was not just the numbers, but the atmosphere: a sense of calm, of pride, of being seen. This outreach was made possible by the generous logistical and operational support of our partners at the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, whose grassroots knowledge ensured we reached the right people at the right time.

Ajah reaffirmed something we’ve always believed: impact doesn’t always shout. Sometimes, it’s found in quiet relief, a whispered thank-you, or a child dancing beside a food cart. At Glo Foundation, we are not only meeting needs — we are building trust. We are not just delivering aid — we are cultivating hope.
